- Open a web browser on your computer (Chrome recommended)
- Go to appinventor.mit.edu
- Click “Create apps!”
- Click “Start New Project”
- Name your app “My_First_App”
Circulate the room to ensure that all students are able to create a new app and assist students when needed.
Can’t save my app with the name I want
- The app name cannot contain any spaces. Use an underscore ( _ ) to create a space or use the name “MyFirstApp” with no spaces.
- The app name should be unique and cannot be a name that has previously been used by your Gmail account. Use a different name or add a number at the end.
- The app name cannot start with a number.
Clicked “Create apps!” and another app appeared on the screen
- If someone, using the same Gmail account, has created an app prior to this activity, that app may appear when you click “Create apps!”
- To start a new project, go to “Projects” (in the top navigation, on the left side of the screen) and click “Start new project”
