Instructor directions are listed below:

  1. Explain to students that each team will come to the front of the room to present their Tech for Good IoT solutions to the entire class (or larger group of peers, teachers, parents, etc.). Let teams know about the length of the presentation and any guidelines they need to follow.
  2. Students should type their presentation script and practice it several times to ensure a smooth presentation.
  3. Ask students to test the invention before coming up for their presentations (e.g., all wires are connected, the App is ready to go, and the Bluetooth connection is set and ready to use).
  4. Explain the pattern or flow of all presentations. We recommend having the next team “on deck” (a spot near or behind the presentation area) while the current team is presenting to move faster through presentations.
  5. Ask students to introduce themselves, describe their project, and then plug in the USB cable (power supply) to the Arduino board to present the robotic invention in action.
  6. Flip the “Technical Difficulties” sign to cover creation if students need to fix technical problems and/or make last minute changes.
  7. Congratulate each team on their invention. The goal of this activity is to give each student a positive experience with creative technology projects.
  8. If appropriate, encourage students to post their Tech for Good projects on Instagram or Twitter and tag @QualcommforGood and use the hashtag #ThinkabitLab.
  9. Have fun with this project as we do at the Thinkabit Lab!

Inviting parents to come and watch the presentations is the culminating project for the Thinkabit Lab summer camps. It is a rewarding experience for parents to see and hear what their students have been working on. If you plan on presenting the Tech for Good projects to parents or as part of a larger presentation, consider doing test runs of the presentations. The more comfortable students feel with their projects and their presentations, the smoother the presentations. It is advisable to have an assistant available during presentations to help teams with any arising technical issues.
