1. Drag and drop a "ListPicker" into the viewer, then change the text to “Step 1: Select Bluetooth Device”, change the Width to “Fill Parent”, and rename it “Select BT”.

2. Drag and drop a "Label" into the viewer, then change the text to “Bluetooth Name”, change the width to "Fill Parent", and rename it “BT Name”.

3. Drag and drop a "Button" into the viewer, then change the text to “Step 2: Connect to Bluetooth device”, change the width to "Fill Parent", then rename it “Connect BT”.

4. Click on "Layout" in the "Palette" and drag and drop a "HorizontalArrangement" into the viewer. Then click on "User Interface" and drag and drop two "Buttons" into the "Horizontal Arrangement".  

5. Change the text of the first button to “LED on”, the width to 45 percent, and rename it “LED on”.  Then, change the text of the second button to “LED off”, the width to 45 percent, and rename it “LED off”.

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to create 2 more buttons in a Horizontal Arrangement, with the text and names “Servo Left” and “Servo Right”.

7. Drag and drop a "Notifier" into the viewer. Notice that it appears below the screen in the “Non-visible components”.

8. Click on "Connectivity" in the "Palette" and drag and drop a "BluetoothClient" into the viewer.  Notice that it appears below the screen in the "Non-visible components" with the Notifier.

9. Make any design changes, such as colors, fonts, and button shape before moving to the "Blocks" page.

10. Record the button you just created in the first column in your notebook or on your Bluetooth Communication Worksheet like below

Circulate the room to ensure that each group has added the components listed. Ask students to stop making design modifications when you are ready to advance to the next step. We recommend that you have a printed version of the final design of the app handy for students to review and ensure that they have included all the components.

1. Don’t see the component I want in the "Palette"
• Read the instructions carefully to see where to find each of the components.
• Watch the video and pause it as needed to see where to find each component.

2. Don’t see where in the "Properties" section to change the text, width, background color, etc.
• Be sure that you are modifying the properties of the correct component, click on the component you want to edit (in the Components section or on the viewer) to modify the component’s properties.
• Scroll down to find it. It is there!
